Impacting Female Farmers

Women form close to 60% of the agricultural workforce in Kenya and Sub Saharan Africa, however despite their efforts, majority of them do not get hard earned cash from their produce. The work done by Ojay Greene is focused on changing this picture.  As long as they are willing to put in effort and collaborate with our staff they stand the chance of increasing their incomes and improving their livelihoods.

  1. Female farmers form close to 60% of the agricultural workforce in Kenya and Sub Saharan Africa, however despite their efforts, majority of them do not get their hard earned cash from their produce. Ojay Greene has programs that are deliberately focusing on empowering marginalized female farmers financially as well as on ensuring that more girls access an education.

  2. In July 2016, Ojay Greene signed an agreement with I choose Life Africa- an international NGO as implementing partners in a pilot program that will enable 600 vulnerable girls stay in school.

Ojay Greene is incorporating the parents of the vulnerable girls who primarily depend on Agriculture for a living, into their model where they will receive advisory services, agronomic extension services and market linkage. The expected output of this partnership is that the smallholder farmer parents of the vulnerable girls will increase their annual income by US $ 300 in the first year. This will enable them to afford school fees for their daughters and keep them in school even after the project funding ends.
