IMG-20150716-WA0000

Smallholder farmers face many barriers to productivity such as:

  1. Limited access to inputs

  2. Lack of modern farming techniques

  3. Over reliance on rainfed farming

Barriers to productivity lowers the competitive edge of smallholder farmers. Changing weather patterns remains the biggest risk to improving the incomes of smallholder farmers. Many farmers remain victims to changing weather patterns and have limited information on how to adopt climate smart agriculture. Ojay Greene uses a 5 year engagement model that entails:

  • Knowledge transfer

  • Farm demonstrations

  • Agroforestry

  • Minimal tillage

to help smallholder farmers  practice Climate smart agriculture thereby adapt to changing weather patterns without causing further harm to the environment.
